Core Count Selection of M8 Connectors Based on Actual Demand

Core Selection Principle

  • Demand-oriented & No Redundancy: The core count of M8 connector is directly matched with the number of actual signal/power supply lines, select the specification according to transmission needs, 1 core can be reserved for standby (optional), non-redundant selection is recommended to avoid resource waste.

Core Count Matching & Typical Application Scenarios

3 Core

For single-channel signal transmission + power supply, the most basic and commonly used specification. Suitable for ordinary proximity sensors, basic photoelectric sensors and other single-parameter low-power sensing equipment.

4 Core

For dual-channel signal transmission or single-channel signal + dual-channel power supply. Suitable for sensors with indicator lights, small solenoid valves, basic small actuators with simple power and signal feedback.

6/8 Core

For multi-channel small equipment with complex signal/power supply requirements. Suitable for micro industrial cameras, multi-contact small actuators, precision vision module peripheral connection and other multi-line transmission miniaturized equipment.

Technical Note: When selecting the M8 connector core count, first count the total number of actual signal and power supply lines of the equipment; the optional 1-core standby is only for the later small function expansion of the system, and the core count selection should be unified in the same project for standardized management and convenient later maintenance.
