Contact Resistance Requirement
The initial contact resistance of a single pair of contacts ≤20mΩ, which can effectively ensure that there is no obvious attenuation during signal and current transmission, and guarantee the stability of the whole transmission circuit.
Insulation Resistance Requirement
Under normal temperature and humidity conditions, the insulation resistance ≥1000MΩ (500V DC) between each contact and between contacts and the shell, which can effectively prevent electric leakage and signal crosstalk between different circuits.
Key Factors Affecting Resistance Parameters
- Contact Oxidation: Contacts without gold/tin plating treatment are prone to oxidation and increase contact resistance
- Excessive Plugging: Frequent plugging causes wear of contact surfaces and damage to plating layers
- Humid/Corrosive Environment: High humidity or corrosive media lead to insulation aging and contact oxidation
- Contaminated Contacts: Dust and oil contamination on contacts during installation affects contact and insulation performance
Technical Note: Regular detection of resistance parameters is recommended for M8 connectors used in harsh environments; keeping the contact surface clean, selecting connectors with gold-plated contacts and doing a good job of sealing and protection can effectively maintain the stability of resistance parameters and extend the service life.
